We are all familiar with the famous disco ball that we’ve seen countless times in movies from the 70’s, you know, that big shiny thing hanging from the ceiling that is always the opening of a “we are in a night club” scene. Little did i know that the disco ball was actually used in “discothèques” as early as the 1920s. Wikipedia said so. It’s basically a spherical object with a surface that consists of hundreds or thousands of facets, and each having a mirrored surface that reflects light directed at it in many directions. in a nut shell.. it’s a partehhhh thang.
So back to my new-found fascination. Many great musicians have used this prop as a way to awe and entertain their crowds, including the awesome Pink Floyd. u can see it the video of each tour: “Delicate Sound of Thunder” and “Pulse” during the song “Comfortably Numb”
And then the mighty disco ball became more of an icon for “it’s gonna be a wild party” poster for all electronic, house, ddzi2 ddzi2, raves going on.
But there is hope yet, it looks like clubs once again are investing in the magic of this little ball of glitter, to create an awe effect that makes you raise your hand up in the air and say “YES!!!!!” and then proceed telling yourself how this is the best night of your life:/

But this blog isn’t about the clubs scene. it’s about my new fascination for the week. The glitter ball concept and all the epic stuff that it’s been turned into. check it out:
All in all, this timeless creation has always and will always be a cool icon.
(If anyone has a disco ball they wanna get rid of or donate to IMLBC lemme know, i’ll b glad to take it off your ceiling ^_^)
